This workshop series is intended to address OSHA 29CFR Part 1910.331—.335, which requires that employers of residential/commercial tree workers, who may be exposed to energized electrical conductors during normal tree care or urban forestry operations, document that they annually provide appropriate electrical hazards training for their employees. Completion and documentation of this training satisfies that requirement.
This training is a component, but by itself does not meet levels required for line clearance tree worker certification. OSHA Electric Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Standard 29 CFR 1910.268, or .269 requires that training and certification for telecommunications workers and line clearance tree workers meet more stringent rescue and work standards. OSHA may assess penalties for non-compliance as great as a $70,000 fine, a year in jail, or both.
Training requirements are stated in Appendix B of ANSI Z133.1-2000.
