PLNA Privacy Policy

The Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association (PLNA) mission is "advocating for the green industry and its members while building and demonstrating professionalism" and as such produces programs, publications and events to promote its members, sponsors, exhibitors and their businesses. In addition, the PLNA bylaws require that the Secretary/Treasurer provide a list of all members of PLNA to the membership at least annually. This policy outlines how, when and what information PLNA will provide to the membership and the general public about its members and other participants in its programs, publications and events.

1) PLNA Members

a) Membership Directory – The PLNA membership directory will be published annually per the PLNA bylaws and will be made available in print format only. The membership directory will contain the names of PLNA members companies, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and key employees identified by the company to PLNA. In addition, the membership directory may contain other information regarding the participation of individuals of member companies in the work of the association, participation in committees, certification programs, etc. Copies of the membership directory are available only to members in good standing of PLNA. There is no provision for members to opt-out of the printed membership directory because it is a requirement of the bylaws. Other than the above, the membership list in any printed or electronic form will not be sold, loaned or given to any company, person, association, or agency without subpoena by a legally authorized entity.

b) PLNA Web Sites - PLNA web sites may contain directories of member companies, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses to allow the public and industry to promote PLNA members and the products and services they offer. These web sites will be designed in a manner to discourage the wholesale downloading and use of member information, but PLNA cannot guarantee that such abuse will not occur. Members not wishing their information to be listed on a PLNA web site may opt-out by notifying the PLNA office in writing.

c)  PLNA Garden and Landscape Resource Guide – This printed publication is made available to the public to assist them in selecting PLNA member companies for their gardening and landscaping needs.  It contains a list of PLNA members and information regarding their products and services, certified personnel, awards and other information.  Members not wishing to be included in the Garden and Landscape Resource Guide may opt-out by responding to the periodic notices sent to PLNA members regarding the Guide or by notifying the PLNA office in writing.

d) New Members – From time to time the list of new PLNA members and their contact information may be published in Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery magazine, eNews or other PLNA publications as a means of recognizing and welcoming companies into the membership.  New members not wishing to be so acknowledged may opt-out by contacting the PLNA office or noting such on their membership application.

2) Event Sponsors and Exhibitors

a) Event Guides and Other Publications – PLNA produces event guides and other publications to promote sponsors and exhibitors. These publications may contain names, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and other contact information. Sponsors and exhibitors not wishing their information to be listed in event guides may opt-out by notifying the PLNA office in writing.

b) PLNA Web Sites - PLNA may make sponsor and exhibitor names and contact information available on its web sites. Sponsors and exhibitors not wishing that this information to be listed on a PLNA web site may opt-out by notifying the PLNA office in writing.

3) Attendees at PLNA Events

Persons attending a PLNA event may be required to provide their name, company affiliation, address, phone number and other identifying information as part of the registration process or other participation in the event. Individual information will be used only by PLNA for its own internal billing and communications efforts. Such information will not be sold or otherwise provided to any outside entity by any means, unless that entity is providing services to PLNA under contract. Individuals may choose to disclose their personal information to sponsors or exhibitors through identification badge scanning, or other means, but only at their sole discretion.

4) Aggregated Information

Aggregated statistical information that does not disclose personally identifiable characteristics or information about members, sponsors, exhibitors or attendees may be provided to the members, sponsors, exhibitors and the general public.

5) PLNA Contractors

Contractors that provide registration, printing, mailing and web site services and that have access to member, sponsor, exhibitor and attendee information will be bound by this privacy policy through contract provisions.

6) Visitors to PLNA Web Sites

PLNA does not gather individual information about visitors to its web sites unless it is concerning registration for a specific event or other purposes outlined above.

7) Credit Card Information

PLNA does not retain credit card information beyond that necessary to complete a transaction authorized by the cardholder.
